The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. About 22 percent of the 2.2 million students worldwide who took AP Exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams.

At Sharyland High School, 16 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Daisy Abraham, Gabriela Cazares, Julio Contreras, Gerardo Cortez Padilla, Sofia Cortez Padilla, Tyler De Jong, Miguel Angel Del Rio, Dante Flores-Demarchi, Katharine Garcia, Miguel Garza, Paulina Guerra, Edna Manriquez, Jacob Padilla, Ruben Puga, Fernando Rendon and Carolina Vela.

19 students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Jose Ayala, Juanpablo Castillo, Raul Cisneros, David Deschamps, Shianne Diaz, Angel Felix, Marla Garza, Rebecca Gonzalez, Connor Griffith, Jocellyne Hernandez, Abigail Hinojosa, Joshua Jones, Hannah Kirby, Ryan Misage, Brandon Ramirez, Salma Ruiz, Mariel Salinas, Mario Sosa, and Mark Stephens.
 
46 students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Omar Alvarado, Anna Araya, Luzyannet Ballesteros, Philip Cano, Nicholas Cerda, Marie Chapa, Sebastian Chavira, Abraham Cruz, Roland Cruz, Diego De Leon, Elsa De La Garza Elvia Linan, Alexa Del La Torre Schutz, Mariza Delgado Ibarra, Samantha Dimas, Clarissa Fausto, Damian Gaouette, Mauro Garcia, Madeleine Garza, Bradley Grun, Mariano Guerra, Daniela Guerrero, Andres Gutierrez, Paige Jones, Ralph Kelly, Sangyoon Kim, Min Jo Lee, Clarissa Lopez, Raul Lopez, Omar Luna, Veronica Meza, Daniela Paez, Jose Palacio, Miguel Pena, Alfredo Perez, Evelyn Quinlan, Valeria Ramos, Tehya Rassman, Brenda Rodriguez Torres, Raja Salameh, Mariana San Miguel, Hannah Santiago, Sean Tucker, Roman Vasquez, Nancy Vega, Jesus Villarreal, and Maria Zuniga.

Of this year’s award recipients at Sharyland High School, 40 are sophomores or juniors.  These students have at least one more year in which to complete college-level work and possibly earn a higher-level AP Scholar Award.
