Sharyland High School English Teacher and Head Boys Track Coach has been selected by Palms Crossing Barnes & Noble as the Favorite Teacher.  Mr. De La Fuente teaches English / Language Arts Pre-AP III.  He also coaches football and is the Head Boys Track Coach.

In addition to his teaching assignments, Mr. De La Fuente serves on the campus Site Based Decision Making Committee and has provided staff development for his peers on topics such as Differentiated Instruction. His student Renata Jimenez nominated him for the Barnes & Noble Favorite Teacher contest.  Renata chose to write a poem about Mr. De La Fuente.  In her poem she speaks about how he motivates her to do her best in the classroom and as a competitor on the track.  Renata is a junior at Sharyland High School.  Both Mr. De La Fuente and Renata Jimenez were honored at the store with certificates and prizes on Saturday, April 1st.

Students were able to choose to write a letter, an essay or a poem.  More than 14 students participated in this contest just from Sharyland High School alone.  Students chose any educator.  Some selected elementary teachers, or middle school teachers, but most chose an influential high school teacher.  The contest was promoted and sponsored by librarian Nicole Cruz.  She delivered the entries to the store in person.

Sharyland High School is pleased to have Mr. Marcy De La Fuente as part of the faculty and extremely proud of the recognition for him from Barnes & Noble Palms Crossing.
