Sharyland High School FFA Team Earns 1st Place in the Large BBQ Pit Trailer Type Division

The Sharyland High School FFA Agriculture Mechanics Team consisting of Diego Mascorro, Josue Cruz and Jared Rhyne placed 1st place in the Large BBQ Pit Trailer type Division at the 79th Annual Rio Grande Valley Livestock Show in Mercedes, TX.
  
The Team also received Reserve Champion of the Farm & Ranch Division and Reserve Grande Champion over all the 4-H & FFA Shop Divisions.  These students began this sponsored project in December while enrolled in the Sharyland High School’s Agriculture Mechanics and Power and Machinery classes.

Each student put in roughly 200 plus hours towards this project, working before, during and after school as well as weekends.
  
The skills they learned at Sharyland High School include custom fabrication, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), American Welding Society Code, cutting/fitting metal, plasma arc cutting, CNC part fabrication technology, Computer Aid Design (CAD), OSHA Safety practices, Department of Transportation (DOT) Code, trailer fabrication, roofing, propane burner fabrication, stainless steel fabrication, plumbing, food processing, material calculation, employability, dependability, time management, record keeping, industry production and entrepreneurship.
