Daniel Domit learned how to code Python this summer.  He attended the Harvard Summer Coding Academy in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  The Harvard Summer Coding Academy took place from June 17 to June 21.  “My librarian Nicole Cruz nominated me for this opportunity.”
“Daniel was an involved member of our Coding Connects Us Club about two years ago.  I knew this opportunity would allow him to experience a college setting and increase his coding abilities,” SHS Librarian Nicole Cruz shared.

Daniel would recommend this experience to other students. “The experience was truly eye-opening.  Aside from learning how to code, I lived a whole week in Cambridge by myself, and I learned how to handle myself in the real world.  I had to budget money for food and navigate the metro. Even if you’re not interested in coding the whole college life aspect is an experience that I encourage any high school student to experience.”
One of the best experiences that Daniel had was going downtown with my Harvard Camp peers.  “We enjoyed taking in the overwhelming landscapes of the park and the large crowded streets of downtown Boston.” Daniel shared.

Something that surprised Daniel about his experience was the genuine relationships he made with other camp participants. It seems that the comradeship that is missing in the Rio Grande Valley Daniel discovered in Boston. “I’ve never felt so close to a group of people that I just met.”  He would definitely recommend the experience to other students.
